Pesara pappu/ Moong dal Tomato /pappu charu

Pesara pappu charu is a famous recipe like sambar in Andhra.It is good combination with rice and it is tasty ,rich in protein.it also takes less time to prepare.


Ingredients:

1/2 cup of pesara pappu(moong dal)

2 medium tomatoes 

2 to 3 green chilies

Little amount of tamarind piece

1 medium size onion chopped

1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds

1/4 teaspoon of cumin seeds

1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1 dry red chilly

1 to 2 teaspoon of chopped coriander

5 curry leaves

4 to 5 teaspoons of oil

Salt as required


Preparation:

Take a pressure cooker add pesara pappu in a low flame saute for 2 min.

Add 1 cup of water,tomato pieces,green chilly pieces,half onion  (cut into pieces),turmeric powder,small tamarind piece ,turmeric powder and pressure cook for 3 whistles.

When pressure releases add salt, mash it well and 1/4 cup of water mix well and heat i for 1 min.

Then heat oil in the pan add mustard seeds,cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.

Then add curry leaves,chopped onion a pinch of hing and saute them to 1 min.

Add this tempering(talimpu) to the pappu mixture.

Finally,garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice and papad.
